Around this time last month, I decided to participate as a team captain in my first ever Walk to Cure Arthritis (5K Walk Event). I gathered my Arthritis Anchors–  my supporters new and old, raised some funds for a cure, the hard-working researchers and better treatments.

It was a nice one mile walk on a beautiful Sunday morning. Although it was a little chilly by Lake Michigan in Chicago, the sun was shining and it was a vibrant day. I am so grateful and thankful for my surgeons, rheumatologist, physical therapists, massage therapists, acupuncturist, and overall medical team that helped me get to were I am today!

Since I raised $150, I was given a Walk to Cure Arthritis T-shirt and a popsocket and shades to match!

My goal was $1,000 and I raised $248.00 for the Arthritis Foundation. Fundraising is by no means easy. It takes a lot of work, preparation, motivation and dedication. I am inspired by those who come back year after year, create a team or simply walk for a cure, and have fun doing it!

I aim to participate again in 2019 and bring back the RARA Tribe in full force, to help find a cure for America’s #1 leading cause of disability. Even though the event has closed for the year, registration for 2019 will open up later this year. In the meantime, if you are interested in donating to a much needed cause or know someone who is, you can do so by visiting the, Arthritis Foundation donation page.
