I was diagnosed in 2012 while I was going for my masters in my mid 40’s. It was very aggressive and my father also had a very aggressive form of Rheumatoid Arthritis. His Dr said he hadn’t seen a case as bad as my Dads, so when I was diagnosed I got the same Dr. I have gone through 5 biologics, none of which were strong enough. I’m now on Remicade which helps but does not take away the pain all the way.

I got involved with my local Arthritis Foundation several years ago. I am an Arthritis Advocate, and reached Platinum Ambassador level this past March. Last May I was asked to be the Adult Honoree for the Walk to Cure Arthritis. I’m no longer able to work due to my illnesses and by getting involved and volunteering it helps me process how my life has taken this turn. I’ve had 3 surgeries in the last 3 years and it looks like I have another one coming up. My husband of 32 years is my rock, and helps support me mentally, emotionally as well as physically.
